Keep the money you make and don't give it away! Right from the very start - when you first make the decision you want to run a Banner Ads site to make money from. You need to be thinking way ahead of yourself in regards off: (cost involved to run a site V's The money you'll make from adsense ads). And the software you choose to use will have a major impact on these costs involved. At the end of the day, the less out-goings you have to pay, means the more money you'll bank. So it stands to reason you need to keep those monthly, or yearly out-goings down to a bare minimum as possible. Below, I'll give you two typical examples of what a person might choose to use for his site, and the pitfalls and advantages of each option he goes with. 1: Free HTML Web Template They're free to use (so no cost is involved with web software). They don't require a database to run (making them very light on server resources used). Which means you can quite easily rent a "Small Sever Hosting Plan" for as little as £30 year or less, and have a few thousand page HTML Website online making you some money. Great option to go with! And you can take the option of using HTML Templates much further to suit your pocket, by choosing to rent a server space plan that doesn't come with the frills of cPanel, or other scripts you don't require for your site to function. And gain a lot more extra bandwidth by doing so, as well as cutting back on server system resources used (which will make your site run faster) - which is a real plus factor. Because some web servers like "ASmallOrange" for example, offer this option if you only plan to run something like a basic HTML Website that doesn't require a database or other scripts to work, and only requires FTP uploading. emember, you can use "Google Analytic" for Free to track your sites statistics and performance much better than any cPanel server tools ever would, so you don't need these website tracking tools installed at your server end either. 2: Paid Web Software You have to pay to buy it at the start (an initial cost is involved). Then most likely you'll also have to pay a yearly upgrade fee to keep the software up-to-date. Forums for example require the use of a database (and can be very server intensive as they grow larger because of this), and that goes for any Web Software really that requires the use of a database to function. Which means your server host will most likely ask you to upgrade to a "Dedicated Hosting Plan" from a "Shared Hosting Plan" in the not to distant future if your site grows fast, because of system resources being used. Which is a lot more costly! So, in the long-run it's not really a good option to go with, and you may find the money your making from Adsense Ads only just covers your server and software costs involved! An even worse case, you may be running at a loss! Maybe now, you can start to understand why in "Article 3", I talked so much about free "HTML Web Templates" being a great option to use above all other software choices because they don't require a database to function if you keep them simple. Meaning they are very light on server system resources used! All they basically require is bandwidth to run, and if you would with a very lightweight template design that uses very limited graphics, or no graphics at all. Your making a great choice to go with. To sum up You should now know the importance of saving yourself some money when it comes to the type of "Server Plan" you decide to rent and use, and the type of Web Software you choose to go with. We'll now move on to "Article 9". The last article in the series, which will be used to leave you with something to think about! | | |
