Domain to choose and topics to cover. When you start to think about choosing a particular "Domain Name" to register and use with your site software, what you should be thinking about first and foremost is this! What "topic" will your site be covering (I say topic, and not topics) - because your site should only cover one main topic only (which can branch off into different sub-topics about the same main topic). For example: your sites main topic might be about "Cars", and you have different sub-topics in place that talk about the different type of car manufacturers such as (Honda, Nissan, Ford) etc. This is perfectly fine, because everything stays related to the main subject (topic) of cars! However, do not cover "Multiple Topics" that have no relationship to each other (ie: Cars, Fish, Stamp Collecting, Pig Farming) etc. The reason why I say this is quite obvious when you think about it, and And that reason is this. Your "main goal" is to get Targeted Adsense ads displayed on all your sites web pages "which are as relevant as possible to the content posted there"! And talking about different topics that are not relevant to each other, will simply help confuse Google Adsense. And you'll finish up with a lot of Adsense Ads being displayed that are "NOT" Targeted Ads (targeted ads means, the links displayed in the Ads match the topic that web pages talks about). So please don't make the fatal mistake that so many other people out there make, that of creating a website that covers many different subjects (topics). Stick to just one main subject/topic. If you want to get good targeted adsense ads displayed on all your web pages. Believe me, this is just as important as the domain name itself you'll choose to register. So remember, cover just one topic only! Now, lets say for example you've decided on the topic your site will cover, and it's going to be about: "Adsense Templates you have for sale". You should be looking to register a "Domain Name" that has these important Keywords included in the name itself (adsense, templates, sale). A good idea would now be to try and register (adsensetemplatesales.com) or (adsensetemplates.com). If these are already taken, go for another domain name extension like (.org, .net or .co.uk) etc. Remember though, it's always best to try and get a ".com" domain name extension first and foremost. Because just about all internet web users out there expect a site to use a ".com" extension first - when they type a URL Address in their browser. If you find the ".com" is taken that you want to register, try swapping the keywords around a little like this example (salesadsensetemplates.com), to still try and get that ".com". Another thing to remember with "Domain Names" also is this. Try and think of a "short a name as possible", instead of a long winded name like I mentioned above. Not many people would be interested in typing "adsensetemplatesales.com" into their browser (for obvious reasons). But would not mind typing a "4 or 5 letter" domain name like "vivvo.com" or "discus.com" for example. So the shorter the domain name, the better off you are. But always remember you still need to include those all important Keywords in your domain name, which match the topic your site will cover. To help you get targeted ads displayed, better search engine rankings, and much better SEO in general. And he is another thing to consider when choosing a domain name. Let's say for example, your going to set-up a site about "Bodybuilding", and you find you can register "bodybuildingforums.net". What you have to think about is this! If you did a search in Google using the keyword "bodybuilding" - how many other sites get listed that use that same keyword in their domain name as well. All the sites that get listed are going to be competition for you, when tying to get a good page rank. So if you choose a keyword in your domain name that displays a lot less site listed in Google when searched for, that's the better option to go with. Because you you'll have much less competition to fight off, when trying to get listed high in search engines based on that less popular keyword used (just make sure the keyword you use still relates to your sites topics) though. To sum up: I've explained how important it is that you stick to just one topic only (so you get much better targeted adsense ads) displayed. And also, the importance of using the best "topic related keywords" in your domain name. For good Seo, better Page Rank, and topic related Targetted Ads. We can now move on to "Article 3", which will talk about the website software you decide to use.
